Privacy Policy

This page explains what happens to information when you visit Facts Reader. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past.

What we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, address or any other personal detail in order to read anything on this site. There is no newsletter sign-up and no login.

Like virtually every website, our server records standard technical request data: the page requested, the time, a referring page if there is one, your browser and operating system version, and an IP address. This is used to keep the site running and to understand which sets people find useful. It is not used to build a profile of you.

Information kept in your browser

If you switch the site between light and dark appearance, that single preference is stored in your own browser so the site remembers it next time. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Quiz progress — which answers you have revealed, which options you have picked — exists only while the page is open and is not saved or transmitted anywhere.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. WordPress may set a cookie if you leave a comment or log in as an administrator; ordinary reading sets none.

Third parties

Our pages load a web font from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Nothing else on these pages contacts a third party. The site is served through a content delivery network, which processes requests on our behalf in order to deliver pages quickly and to block abuse.

If advertising is introduced to this site in future, this page will be updated to say so, and what those partners collect, before any such code is added.

Children

Much of this site is written for children to read and for adults to read to them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and there is no mechanism on this site through which a child could submit personal information to us.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no personal records, there is in practice nothing for us to export or erase. If you believe we hold information about you and want it removed, write to us at [email protected] and we will deal with it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the revised version will appear here with a new date below.
